Highly recommend the Chocolate Tour. Alex was a great guide - knowledgeable and entertaining - and even my New Yorker daughter learned some things.

“Chocolate Tour”

My fiance and I went on a Chocolate Tour today and it was wonderful! Alex was our tour guide and he was terrific. He knew a ton of New York history (and a tremendous amount of related history, as well). He also spent a lot of time with our group and ours ran 40 minutes longer than the allotted 2 hours, which seemed to be fine with all 21 of us. Each location was interesting and fun. We were also lucky to have a really beautiful day and a really nice group of people. Alex was just the best!

Great Tour!
by Chris on 25 Apr 2013
The stops were great - I did not go home hungry. Our tour guide was interesting, knowledgeable and added just the right amount of humor. I live in NJ and even I was surprised at what I learned and what little bakery and chocolate treasures lurked in lower Manhattan.

“You don't have to be a tourist to enjoy this tour!”
by chins01 (a TripAdvisor Member) on 4 Apr 2013
If you like dessert you'll love the Chocolate tour! They don't skimp on the samples so come hungry! There are seven stops on the tour and most of the samples are really rich so I'd recommend bringing a water bottle and maybe taking one or two of the samples home. Two of the places offer boxes / bags for your cookies and cupcakes and I'd recommend taking advantage of these so you can get a little break and save some for later.
I thought this tour would be really touristy but it wasn't. In fact almost everyone in our group was a local. Our tour guide was great and gave us a lot of info about the places we visited as well as some random info and fun facts along the way. It was a really fun and unique way to spend an evening and I'd definitely be curious to check out their other tours.

“Very fun...a great way to explore the city!”
by imbusytoo (a TripAdvisor Member) on 4 Apr 2013
Our group of 4 totally enjoyed our 2.5+hours tour. Alex, our tour guide, went above and beyond telling us about more than just chocolate. He also gave us quick but interesting facts about the areas we walked through.
We visited a nice selection of chocolatiers and bakeries, enjoying a variety of items. There were places I had never heard of before, and will definetly go back in the future.
Bringing a water bottle and wearing good shoes for walking is a must.
We purchased our tickets using Groupon, so we felt we got a really great deal. But I would recommed this tour to someone wanting to have a fun and tasty afternoon.

“Shannon showed us a great time”
by RosalindNora (a TripAdvisor member) on 2 Dec 2012
Loved the Chocolate Tour! Our guide was Shannon, and she was funny and well-informed. On the Cupcake Tour, we didn't get as much from the experience, not only because I felt it wasn't as "cup-cakey" as should be (why are we tasting gelato, even if it is the most amazing ever?), but also because the guide somehow didn't seem to be making the most of her facts and didn't seem to be having a good time herself. In reference to the reviewer who thinks you're just out buying cupcakes: the point isn't to get good deals on treats, it's to have fun learning about the city and new places. I've walked by some of these shops without a second glance. I need someone to say -- Hey, try this place or this different flavor. I now have a few new favorites (Molly's Cupcakes, you're my new sweets crush!). I've lived in NYC over 25 years (including the neigborhoods we walked through) and learned new things. Wear comfortable shoes, walk close to the guide so you can hear every cool tidbit, bring a bottle of water, have a bit of protein beforehand to minimize sugar high, and take advantage of any opportunity to take part of your treat to go (wish I had thought to bring a little shopping bag). Folks, tip your tour guide -- she's not the one making the bucks off your tour, the same way your waitress isn't taking home what you pay for dinner.

We had an awesome time on our chocolate tour in NYC on Friday, Sept. 7. Our guide was awesome and did a great job. We ate lots of chocolate goodies and walked quite a distance as well (hoped we burned off some of the calories).

“Chocolate Tour was PERFECT”
by mkosarik (a TripAdvisor Member) on 20 Nov 2012
I honestly wasn't expecting much from this tour. I live her in NY and a friend talked me into going. What a nice surprise...the tour was fun...Marci was the perfect guide. She gave us just the right amount of info without a lot of corny babble. I learned a few things and discovered that I didn't know my NY dessert spots as well as I thought I did. Book with Marci if you can. The pace was good and she took care to guide some people that were not up for quite that much walking when to grab a cab.

“The Chocolate Tour of New York”
by Linda P (a TripAdvisor Member) on 20 Nov 2012
My daughter and I loved this tour! It was her birthday present, and Alex, our tour guide, made it very special! We're both huge chocoholics, and the chocolate on this tour didn't disappoint. We visited some new places (to us) and some classics, getting unique and delicious chocolate at each one. Alex, a walking history book, knew everything not only about chocolate but everything else in New York. Overall, we had a great time meeting new people, learning new things, and of course, eating tons of chocolate! We highly recommend this tour.

We had such a fun time walking around lower Manhattan enjoying all types of chocolate and in so many different forms from candy to cupcakes! Our guide Keaton was wonderful dispensing with small tidbits of NYC trivia! We all loved the tour (four of us) and highly recommend it!

Had a great expirence with Marci as our tour guide as she took us to all the delish chocolate shops where we got about 8 tastings as she showed us around the neighborhood. Some people got so full from the samples that was sometimes 2nds (which i indulged in many times) I would reccomend it for chocolate lovers young & old.

“GREAT CHOCOLATE TOUR!”
by CGardner_6411 (a TripAdvisor Member) on 20 Nov 2012
The Chocolate Tour was GREAT! It was an especially awesome value since we managed to find a Groupon for only $15/person. We got to taste lots of different chocolates plus 3 big desserts including: a cupcake from Magnolias Bakery, a big cookie from Milk & Cookies, and a cannoli from Pasticceria Bruno. We read some reviews that said the cupcake and cannoli weren't included in the ticket price, but rest assured THEY ARE! I guess they tried to offer the tour cheaper and not include the two other desserts and it back-fired. So, don't worry, they are included now.
Our tour guide, Keaton, was fantastic! He was so nice and very informative. It was cool to hear a little about the history of chocolate, but even cooler to hear about the history of NYC.
Thanks for a great tour!!

My husband surprised me a Chocolate tour for our anniversary. The walking tour was just under 2 hours and you visited 8 establishments and sampled something chocolate in each. The tour guide was great. Besides all the information he shared with us on the tour and the establishments we visited, he also pointed out some landmarks as we walked along. He mentioned they also have a food tour and cupcake tour, that I plan on attending one day. It is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes.

“Chocolate Tour of New York”
by kittysquared (a TripAdvisor Member) on 20 Nov 2012
If you love chocolate, then go on this tour. Be advised that your taste for chocolate has to go beyond Hershey's! Our tour guide was Keaton, and he was very amiable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. His lesson on the proper way to taste chocolate (analogous to tasting wine) was invaluable. The samples you get along the way are generous (full-sized at Pasticceria Bruno, Magnolia Bakery, Jacques Torres, and Milk and Cookies; pieces of chocolate at Lilac, Chocolate Bar, Xocolatti's, and Vosges). The must-haves for me were the Wicked Hot Chocolate at Jacques Torres and the Autumn Spice Bar at Chocolate Bar.
You do have time to shop at each location (though today we did not stop long enough at Jacques Torres for that - an oversight, I guess - but it's a LONG way back to Chelsea Market from the last stop, so make sure to do your shopping before leaving).
Bring along a bottle of water because you will get thirsty.
Xocolatti's is a boutique chocolate shop with unusual offerings; while the white chocolate Mango paprika bark was tasty, I do not consider white chocolate as true chocolate. The only other flavor that interested me, (Saffron Nut Chikki), was sold out. Sold out? Unacceptable. The cannoli at Bruno's is a bit of a cop-out since there was no chocolate to be had here (were there chocolate chips in the filling?). I think this stop needs to be replaced. Pronto.
Overall, a great outing for native New Yorkers as well as for tourists. Keaton was informative and likable. I really recommend this tour!

My mom came to visit and I was looking for "not just another NYC tour," to take her on. I chose this one because it went through good neighborhoods, was a walking tour and THE CHOCOLATE of course! It far exceeded my expectations. We were able to get some great tastings, history lessons and learn about some great hidden gems in the city! Marci, our tour guide, was great! I would definitely recommend this to everyone :) Check living social for a discount, I think I paid around $17 for our tickets.

“Chocolate Tour of New York - incredible experience”
by nightsky3 (a TripAdvisor Member) on 20 Nov 2012
Keaton was our guide through the streets of New York tasting more chocolate than one human can handle! Starting in the wonderful Chelsea Market winding through the West Village, Greenwich Village and ending in SoHo tasting solid, liquid, small and large combinations of chocolate - chocolate heaven! And not only did we sample large and small rich and richer milk and dark samples but Keaton also was a wealth of historical and fascinating information about the neighborhoods, the businesses nd even some TV and move trivia. A great way to see this interesting and funky part ofthe ity with priority access to great small chocoate

Our guide Keaton was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. It was a beautiful day & we did a lot of walking. I would recommend it to anyone that loves chocolate (i don't know too many people that don't)

“Delicious chocolate and history”
by Addie P (a TripAdvisor Member) on 20 Nov 2012
Alex did an amazing job as tour guide, leading us through the cultural, geographic, architectural and political history of NYC and the beautiful and savory tasty treats. There were 5 chocolate stores and 3 bakeries included on our tour, and each place gave us a different view of famous NY history as well as best of the best chocolate/baked goods. I only wish I could do this tour again to try and get more of the incredible amount of information offered about this wonderful city and it's sweets. Alex was extremely knowledgeable and had a genuine interest in the tasty delights and the complex history and I would recommend this tour for any chocoholic, curious New York enthusiast or local who wants to learn more about the hidden treasures surrounding them every day!

“Chocolate Tour Was Fun & Yummy!”
by andrefs (a TripAdvisor Member) on 20 Nov 2012
Put on your walking shoes and come with an appetite! The Great NY Chocolate Tour was not only fun and delicious, but very interesting as well. Alex was the perfect tour guide! You get samples at each of the 10 stops (chocolate shops and bakeries). Some shops/bakeries offered a 10% discount on purchases...and there was lots of great stuff to buy. The pace is quick and there is a lot of walking, without much rest......but the rewards are worth it! Appropriate for all age groups as long as you love chocolate and can walk around for at least 2 hours. Sometimes discounted tickets are available through Living Social. Have fun!

My sister and I went on the Chocolate walking tour yesterday-- Alex did a fantastic job of informing us about the history of Manhattan while we were able to try different chocolate shops and bakeries along the way! I mean, what's not to love about trying NY's best canoli, cupcakes and chocolate while learning? Some shops/bakeries offered a 10% discount on purchases... and I'm going to try and get a group together for his Music history tour.

This was one of the best things I have done in my 20 years living in NYC. The chocolate tour was more than I could have ever imagined. My friend and I had an amazing evening. I was on a chocolate high for days after. Keaton was the best guide ever. This is a great first date idea, a great girls night out and a perfect time to spend with friends and family. Don't wait.
